About this event

Civic Awareness Series:
The Role of the National Convention in Shaping Voters' Behavior

Tuesday, August 13, 2024
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Schaumburg Central Library - Rasmussen Room

Explore the evolutionary processes for the national convention for the major political parties in the US. There will be a historical examination of how national conventions influence voters’ behavior, nominating the candidate officially for the presidential election, and forming the party agenda. The lecture will also explain the political oligarchy and the activists for each party and how they influence the nomination procedures. Finally, there will be an explanation for the media's power in shaping the candidates' nominations and presenting them to voters.

This program is part of a Civic Awareness Series brought to you by the League of Women Voters of the Palatine Area in partnership with the Schaumburg Library. The public is invited.

You can choose to attend this program in-person or watch online on Zoom. Please indicate your preference when registering. After registering, you will receive a link to the Zoom webinar at least three hours in advance of the program. If you prefer, you can watch the event live streamed on YouTube.com/@SchaumLib.
