Defend Democracy Drop-in (DDD):

Advocating for Issues in Illinois

Thursday, April 23, 2026, 10:30 - 11:30 am

Panera Bread at the Arboretum
100 W. Higgins, South Barrington

This group provides an opportunity for members and their guests to learn about pro-democracy issues and take action on those issues. Simultaneously members will hone their advocacy skills by using the following strategies:  Write a letter to the editor, call, write or e-mail a government official or  file a witness slip.

On April 23 we will discuss the following 2 U. S. House Bills, one which opens the door to nationwide book banning and one that moves funding in a more constructive direction.

  • H.B. 7661 - Stop the Sexualization of Children Act.

  • H.B. 6440 - The Right to Read Act, which funds education and helps to increase student literacy.

Please register to meet fellow league members and stay active in democracy.
