The League of Women Voters (LWV) is holding a nationwide Day of Action on August 8 to mark the anniversary of the 1965 Voting Rights Act. Part of the broader Unite & Rise 8.5 campaign, the event centers on voter engagement, registration drives, and deep canvassing for the 2026 midterms.
Due to a scheduling conflict with our speaker, the LWVPA Day of Action has been scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 10:00 AM, at the Schaumburg Library in the Adult Classroom. The focus of our meeting will be pollwatching. Observation of the voting and ballot counting processes promotes confidence and integrity in our elections. It ensures that all rules and procedures are followed fairly and that no one candidate or political party is disadvantaged.
We hope to inspire more LWVPA and community members to take part in this important civic service. Join us for an informative and engaging presentation by our guest speaker, Gail Weisberg, formerly of the Cook County Clerk's Office as Supervisor of Early Voting and LWV Member of the Evanston League, who will walk us through the how, where, and when of poll watching.
If you’ve ever wondered whether pollwatching is right for you, this is the perfect opportunity to learn more. After attending this session, you will be certified and eligible to apply to observe at polling places. We’ll also have the necessary forms available so you can request specific dates and locations right on the spot.
Be part of the effort to strengthen confidence in our elections — we hope to see you there!
