About this event

Defend Democracy Drop-in:

Illinois General Assembly VETO Session, The Clean Slate Act (SB1784) and Wetlands Protection Act (HB3596)

Tuesday, October 7, 2025, 7-8 pm

Palatine Public Library, Second floor Board Room

The Illinois General Assembly VETO session will begin October 14, 2025 and it will last two weeks. Legislation vetoed by the governor or those bills not passed during the spring session will be considered.  We will discuss bills that are being considered and how to contact our legislators.  The Clean Slate bill modifies current laws regarding when felony conviction records can be sealed.  The Wetlands Protection Act covers when permits are required from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) to discharge dredged or fill material into state wetlands and establishes a wetlands protection fund.  We will provide information regarding LWVIL or LWVIL coalition’s opinion of these bills.

Defend Democracy Drop-in (DDD) was created and shared by LWV Glen Ellyn to provide members with a resource to engage in political action
